I lived in the Gambia for about two years and I was not feeling free to speak in certain situations. I always had to say "Gambia is nice, very nice", basically. I really like the people....
2nd The 2nd edition of The Rough Guide to the Gambia has been out since November 2006, with a huge amount of new and updated information, including lots about eco-tourism. Some of our highlights in the Banjul and resorts region:
Arch 22 Climb up to the top floor balconies of Banjul’s monstrous-looking monument for fantastic views of the city. Albert Market One of the country’s most accessible urban markets, brimming with colour, noise, and pungent produce. Microlighting Get a whole new perspective from the back seat of a motorized kite. Nightlife Forget the hotel discos and go where the in-the-know locals go – urban garden clubs playing rippling mbalax or high energy ndagga music. Abuko Nature Reserve Small, fascinating forest park that's home to birds, lizards, crocodiles and monkeys. Tanbi Wetlands Best explored in a small boat, the mangrove creeks at the mouth of the River Gambia offer great birdwatching.
Have a great trip whenever you go and comment on your experiences here.
